Thompsons Valley West Funeral Chapel, Goodyear, Arizona Mary Margaret (Henkel) Johnson 86 of Goodyear went to be with the Lord on Thursday August 2, 2012. Born in Ohio. The Johnson family moved to Arizona in 1956 where they raised 5 children. Preceded in death by her eldest daughter Susan Rae McColm. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Donald J Johnson Sr., children Donald Johnson Jr, (Kari) of Cedar City UT, Rebecca (Becki) Johnson of Glendale, Clark Johnson (Kristine) of Goodyear and Joseph Johnson Sr. of Payson. Grandchildren, Dr. Clark McDonough (Veronica) of Georgia, Vickie McGee, Krista Johnson, Donald Johnson III., Clifford Johnson (Jennifer), Rachel Brockway (Brett) of Phoenix and Christopher McDonough, Joseph Johnson Jr, Amanda Johnson, Ethan Johnson of Payson. Taylor Adair (George) of Buckeye and 10 Great-Grandchildren. Mary was active in local politics and served as precinct committee chairman for many years in Maryvale. When they moved to Goodyear, raising and racing Greyhound’s became her passion. She found homes for those retired or unable to race. She loved trees and gardening growing many of her own vegetables. An independent spirit, giving back to society, always keeping busy and strong family values were qualities passed on to her children and grand-children. Services will be on Friday August 10th, 2012 at Thompson Funeral Chapel, 926 S Litchfield Rd, Goodyear with visitation at 1:00 pm and services at 2:00 pm. Burial will be at the National Memorial Cemetery.
