Ellsworth June 29, 1927 ~ August 11, 2012 Edward Ellsworth, age 85, of Safford, passed away quietly on Saturday morning, August 11, 2012, at his residence. Funeral services for Edward will be conducted Friday morning, August 17, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., at the Safford L.D.S. Stake Center by Bishop Joe Carpenter of the Safford Third Ward. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, August 16th, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the Vining Funeral Home and Friday morning from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m., at the Safford L.D.S. Stake Center Relief Society Room. Edward will be laid to rest Saturday morning, August 18, 2012, in the Show Low Cemetery in Show Low. ~~~~~~~~ Silver Creek Mortuary, Taylor, Arizona Edward F. Stake Center by Bishop Joe Carpenter of the Safford Third Ward. Edward passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, August 11, 2012, following a lengthy illness. He was surrounded by his loving family. Edward F. Ellsworth was born June 29, 1927, in Holbrook, Arizona, to LeRoy and Velma Ellsworth. He spent his childhood and youth in Show Low, Arizona. He graduated from Snowflake High School in 1945. Edward attended Gila Jr. College prior to serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served his mission among the Navajo and Apache people in northern Arizona and New Mexico. Edward served in the US Army from 1950 to 1952, spending a year in Germany. He and Lucille Nelson were married in the Mesa Arizona Temple on December 26, 1950. Edward attended the Arizona State University, graduating in 1956, with a degree in Education. He began his teaching career in the Safford Public Schools in September of 1956. He continued his employment with the Safford schools until his retirement in 1993. As an educator, Edward served as an elementary teacher, a Jr. High teacher, a counselor and a Jr. High Principal. During this time he earned Master’s degrees in Counseling and in Administration, from the University of Arizona. One of the greatest joys of his life was the 5 years he spent as an LDS Seminary teacher in Thatcher. Edward was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities including: serving in bishoprics, a stake presidency and as a teacher in many different organizations. The greatest joys of his life were his family, his church service and beautifying his home and yard. Edward is survived by: his wife of 61 years, Lucille Ellsworth; five children, Kent (Laree), Jean, Martin (Holly), Michael (Adrienne) and Korth (M'Lu); eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his brother, Arnold Ellsworth; and his sister, Barbara Jean West. He was preceded in death by: his granddaughter, Capri Ellsworth; his parents, LeRoy and Velma Ellsworth; his sister, Susie Nadine Ellsworth; and his brothers, Elwin and Corwin Ellsworth. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, August 16th, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the Vining Funeral Home and Friday morning from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m., at the Safford L.D.S. Stake Center Relief Society Room. Edward will be laid to rest Saturday morning, August 18, 2012, at 10:00 a.m., at the Show Low Cemetery in Show Low, Arizona.
