Frank Funk, 96, of Cottonwood, passed away July 29, 2012. He was born in Los Angeles, CA, on September 13, 1915, to Joseph and Jenny Funk.
He graduated from Fremont High School, served an apprenticeship at U.S. Electrical Motors, and was employed by North American Aviation, building wind tunnel models to develop the P51 Mustang and B25 bomber. Later he worked for McCulloch Corporation, managing the engineering machine shop.
He married Peggy in December of 1941, and they had four sons; Paul, Rex, Don and Bob, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In 1980, Frank retired and he and Peggy moved to Cottonwood. They were active in ham radio, Toastmasters, and other organizations.
There will be no services, but there will be an open house at their home on September 15, 2012, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM.
