Gerald (Jerry) Baird, 83, passed away July 20, 2012 at home in Lake Havasu City. He was born Oct. 31, 1928, in Freeport, Ill., to Charles and Helen Baird and attended schools in Freeport.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 28 years, Paula (the love of his life and best friend); daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Sandy MacCuish, of Santa Maria, Calif.; son, Ken Baird, of Riverside, Calif.; son, Carl Baird, of San Dimas, Calif.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two nephews.
Jerry retired from the Los Angeles City Fire Department in 1980 and the IATSE Local 33 Stagehand Union (TV Studios) in Burbank, Calif., in 1991 and was proud of the fact that he had worked on the “Lawrence Welk Show” where he had a hand in constructing the bubble machine and chandeliers. One of the last shows he was involved with was “Married With Children.” He moved to Lake Havasu City from Los Angeles in 1991 to retire in one of his favorite places, where his hobbies included boating, RVing, restoring older cars and he was a member of the Lake Havasu Yacht Club.
A memorial service will be Sept. 15, at 3 p.m. at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home with a celebration of life at the home afterwards. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Hospice of Havasu, P.O. Box 597, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86405.
