Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Published Friday, July 27, 2012 > Elizabeth Hreno < > Feb. 28, 1921 - July 26, 2012 < After a long and full life, Elizabeth passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Lake Villa, Ill., July 26, 2012. Born in Merzalben, Germany Feb. 28, 1921, she and her family immigrated to the United States, settling in the Lincoln Ave. neighborhood in Chicago, Ill. in 1930. She loved her German heritage, but was equally proud to be a U.S. citizen. She and her husband moved to Grayslake, Ill. in 1952. After retiring, they enjoyed over 20 years of relaxation in Lake Havasu City, until his passing in 2005, when she returned to Illinois. She is survived by her children, son, Robert (Linda) Hreno, of Gurnee, Ill.; daughters, Pamela (Steven) Collins, of Sarona, Wis. and Marlene (John) Bjorkquist, of Lake Villa, Ill.; her sister, Willma Sarnau, of Lena, Ill.; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. At Elizabeth’s request, there will be no wake. Friends of the family may join them for a Memorial Mass commencing at 1 p.m. Monday, July 30, 2012 at St. Gilbert Catholic Church (in the old chapel), 301 E. Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030. Elizabeth’s cremated remains will rest peacefully next to John Hreno, her husband of 56 years, as well as Mark Hreno, her son.
