Bennie "Bea" Sandretzky, 83, passed away Saturday, July 21, 2012 at her home surrounded by family.
Bennie Louis Thompson was born July 3, 1929 at Pitcher, Okla. to Henry and Ada (Coverdell) Thompson.
She was the seventh child of ten children born to her parents. After attending high school she married Fred Harrison in October 1946. They moved to Portland, Ore. and raised their daughter Melodie, along with caring for and becoming legal guardians to their two nieces and two nephews.
She was a homemaker while her children were growing up and then worked as a lab technician for Opticraft. Her husband Fred passed away in 1972 and in April 1990 she married Donald Sandretzky in Reno, Nev. They moved to Bend, Ore. when they retired in 1991 and then moved to Lake Havasu City, in May of 2000. Bennie loved to travel, sew and crochet, cook and spend time with her family.
Bennie is survived by her husband, Donald, of Lake Havasu City; one daughter, Melodie (Daniel Heiner) Harrison, of Lake Havasu City; two step-sons, Russell (Karen) Sandretzky, of Springfield, Ore., Donald A. (Lynn) Sandretzky, of Oregon City, Ore.; one step-daughter, Tammy Gilmore, of Portland, Ore.; one brother, Charles (Sally) Thompson, of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; one sister, Kay (Clark) Stiener, of Redding, Calif.; five nephews, Clifford (Iva) Harrison, of Nowater, Okla., Paul (Carol) Zimmerman, of San Jose, Calif., Richard (Dell) Zimmerman, of Sandy, Ore., Leonard (Pat) Stivers, of Portland, Ore. and Pepper (Kieko) Stivers, of San Diego, Calif.; one niece, Lucille Roser, of Lake Havasu City; two great-nieces, Laura Zimmerman, of Portland, Ore. and Kirsten (Tom) Larvick, of New York, N.Y.; granddaughter, Gina Harrison, of Portland, Ore. and many other extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred; brothers, Clifford Thompson, Virgil Thompson, Ralph Thompson, Eugene Thompson, Earl Thompson; and sister, Cleo Stivers.
