Shirley May Molitor, 81 of Lake Havasu City, joined her heavenly Father, Aug. 6, 2012 at the Polidori House surrounded by family. She was born July 17, 1931, to George and Grace (Yarburough) Heimsch, in Wauwatosa, Wis.
Shirley worked for the City of Milwaukee when she met her husband, Robert “Bob” Molitor, and they were married Sept. 3, 1955. Together they raised four children in Wisconsin before moving to Lake Havasu City in 1981. Many in town got to know and love Shirley from the Box Trot Mail Center that she, Bob and her son, Ross, opened back in 1984.
Shirley had a great passion for everything in her life. As a mother, she made sure her children never had time to get into trouble and was always there to pick up the pieces when they stumbled in life. Whether she was playing tennis, golf, bowling or cards it was her mission to play to win. This giving it your all at whatever you were doing, be it work or play, was something she passed down to all her children. She was known in town as having one of the world’s ugliest golf swings but still hit the ball 200 yards and took everyone’s money playing the quarter game.
Shirley was active in her church and choir at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and was also active in her church’s youth group when her kids were all teenagers in Wisconsin. Shirley’s one-of-a-kind laugh will be greatly missed by her family that she temporarily leaves behind.
She leaves behind her husband of 58 years, Robert Molitor, of Lake Havasu City; three sons, Rhett (Patricia Brown) Molitor and Ross Molitor, both of Lake Havasu City, Ryan (DeeDee) Molitor, of Estrella Mountain Ranch, Ariz.; one daughter, Tari (Jerry) Eggebrecht, of Breckenridge, Colo.; eight grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Visitation will be Thursday, from 5-6 p.m. with funeral services immediately following at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 3163 Maricopa Ave. A sunset burial will follow at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens. Reception will follow with location being announced at the service.
Condolences can be sent directly to the family or at www.lakehavasumortuary.com.
Arrangements are under the care of Lake Havasu Mortuary and Crematory
