The Eastern Arizona Courier, Safford, AZ Saturday, August 18, 2012 Mary Hernandez Rodriguez December 2, 1932 ~ August 13, 2012 A Mass of Christian burial for Mary H. Rodriguez, 79, of Clifton will be celebrated Tuesday, Aug. 21, at 10 a.m, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church by Rev. Martin Atanga-Baabuge. Committal will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Mary peacefully entered into eternal rest Monday, Aug. 13, 2012, at her residence. Mary Hernandez Rodriguez was born Dec. 2, 1932, in Clifton to Dolores and Sixta Marquez Hernandez. She was the second-to-last child born of 13 children. Mary enjoyed spending time with her family and instilled traditions of camping, vacations, barbecues, holidays and gave from the heart to the community that she loved so much. Mary volunteered with American Red Cross blood drives, American Legion Bingo and helped with various fund-raisers for the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was also a member of the American Legion for 48 years, a proud Democrat and, as it was so graciously stated, “Mary took her obligations to the community very seriously.” Our beloved mother and grandmother will remain in our hearts with the wonderful memories and times we shared. Mary is survived by: her husband of 57 years, Manuel G. Rodriguez; one son, Manny Rodriguez; two daughters, Gracie Valenzuela (Jerry) and Judy Lopez (Tony); 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She leaves behind one brother and two sisters. A Rosary will be recited Tuesday, Aug. 21, at 9 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 8 a.m. until 9 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Online condolences may be offered at viningfuneralhome.com.
