The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Tuesday, August 21, 2012 Joan Hildegarde Hecht Turner Sober of Prescott, Ariz., died Aug. 14, 2012, at age 89. A recent fall led to a rapid decline in her health and she gave up her worldly shell in God's grace. She was born in Sturgis, Mich., to Edward and Anna (John) Hecht. Surviving are her daughter, Dr. Anne Sober, DVM; five sons, Guy Turner Jr. (Catharine), Gregory Sober (Colleen), Mark Sober, Richard Sober (Pamela) and Clinton Sober; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Marion LeRoque Barnell, Norma Bauer and Helen Edgington; and her brother, Max Hecht, all of Sturgis. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Sept. 15, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church in Sturgis. Burial of her ashes will be at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis. The Hackman Family Funeral Home - Rosenberg Chapel, Sturgis, Mich., is entrusted with the arrangements.
