CORDOVA, JR, Arnold


Arnold Cordova Jr, a lawyer for the City Council of San Luis, died June 19, 1987, in a shooting at a wedding anniversary celebration in Mexico. He was 39. He was a lifelong resident of Phoenix and had graduated from Phoenix Union High School, Phoenix College and Arizona State University Law School. Mr Cordova also was an attorney for the Yuma Citrus Workers, American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees and the Western Arizona Health Education Center in Yuma. He was a member of Farm Workers Local 383, American Legion Posts 56 in Yuma and 41 in Phoenix, and the State Bar of Arizona. He also was a member of the state Department of Agriculture's Employment Relations Board, Valley Health Center Finance Committee in Somerton and St Anthony's Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Helen; daughters, Lisa Renee and Monique Mercedes; son, Abran Saldate; step-sons, Michael and Kevin Romero; parents, Arnold Sr and Dolores Carrillo; and a sister. Friends may call from 3 to 6 pm today at Whitney & Murphy Chapel, 330 N Second Ave. Rosary will be recited at 8 pm today in St Anthony's Catholic Church, 909 S First Ave. Mass will be celebrated at 9 am Wednesday in the church.
