DWIGHT, Gray

David’s Desert Chapel Funeral Home, Wickenburg, Arizona Dwight Gray We are gathered here today to celebrate the life of Dwight Gray. Although we mourn his passing, his wish was that we celebrate his life. Dwight will be remembered with fondness, love and respect by all who knew him. He had a true servant’s heart, providing a wonderful role model to his daughters, Janet and Gloria, and was devoted and faithful to his many friends and his church family. His gentleness, compassion and kindness to others, as well as his willingness to help those in need, have touched the lives of all who knew him. He always gave 100 percent to what ever he set out to accomplish, as was evident in the excellence of his work, and in his life. A humble man, Dwight was never given to pretense, instead choosing to live a modest life, being content with what the Lord provided. Nor was he one to boast about his accomplishments, although he certainly had reason to! Instead, he allowed those accomplishments to speak for themselves, letting others draw their own conclusions. Whether in business, his contributions within the community, or in his role as a patient and loving father to his beloved daughters, Dwight lived an exemplary life, setting a fine example for all. Though Dwight will be sorely missed, it is his wish that we celebrate his life and cherish the memories of our brief time together, taking solace in the knowledge that we will be together again in Heaven. To those who did not know Dwight well, he seemed a very quiet and contemplative person, but to his friends and family, he had a subtle humor that was priceless, a zest for life that was abundant and he always made time for others, even when it was not convenient. Dwight found a special joy in sharing his beloved desert with all who came to visit, especially when it came to racing across the dunes in his desert buggy, or exploring ghost towns and native petroglyphs. He loved the freedom and exhilaration it brought and found great pleasure in sharing this passion with others. These are just a few of the fond memories of this exceptional man, a man who was loved and respected by those who were fortunate enough to have been counted among his friends. His daughters will always cherish fond memories from childhood. Those of a small girl sitting on her Daddy’s knee sharing a morning coffee over breakfast, or enjoying a lively a waltz through the living room, tiny feet firmly planted atop those of her loving father, as they danced to an imagined orchestra. As the years went on, patient guidance and the wisdom of a loving father helped to instill good values and guide two young girls as they made the journey into adulthood. It’s the little things shared throughout a lifetime that have been the cornerstone of the values that still echo in the hearts and minds of those two tiny girls, now grown with children of their own. Even though Dwight will be missed terribly, he will live on in the hearts and memories of all who loved him and will be waiting for us when we, too, join him at the right hand of the Lord.
