Lamont Mortuary of Globe, Globe, Arizona Joe Anthony Perez (Died August 23, 2012) Joe Anthony Perez, “Tony or Pusso” as he was more commonly know by his friends, passed away on August 23, 2012 at his residence in Globe. He was 69. He was born in Globe, Arizona on March 11, 1943. Son of Joe L. and Margaret (Guerena) Perez. Joe was a 1963 Globe High School graduate where he was an excellent basketball player. He also attended Eastern Arizona College and Northern Arizona University. He worked as a custodian for the U.S. Postal Service from where he retired. He had also worked for the Forest Service and Inspiration Copper. Joe enjoyed hunting, fishing and wagering on horse races and visiting the casino. Joe served his country proudly in the U.S. Army, 27th Infantry. He earned a Purple Heart in Vietnam Conflict. He was preceded in death by his mother Margaret G. Perez. Joe is survived by his daughter Mercy, his father Joe L. Perez, his sisters; Connie Gonzales, Andrea Perez and Robin Perkins, his brother Daniel Perez and many nieces and nephews. As per Tony’s wishes there will be a rememberance of his life instead of a funeral. A luncheon will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2012 from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. at Holy Angels Parish Hall. ~~~~~~~~ Arizona Silver Belt, Globe, Arizona Tuesday, August 28, 2012 Joe Anthony Perez, “Tony” or “Pusso” as he was more commonly known, passed away on Aug. 23, 2012. He was born on March 11, 1943 in Globe, Ariz. to Joe L. and Margaret Guerena Perez. Tony graduated from Globe High School, where he was an excellent basketball player. He also attended Eastern Arizona College and Northern Arizona University. Tony was a member of the U.S. Army, 27th Infantry. He earned a Purple Heart in the Vietnam Conflict. He was also awarded eight medals. He retired from the United States Postal Service. Tony’s hobbies included fishing, hunting, handicapping horse races and visiting the casino. He is survived by his daughter, Merci Liljegren; his father and mother, Joe and Norma Perez; sisters, Connie Gonzales, Andrea Perez, and Robin Perkins; and brother, Daniel Perez; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. As per Tony’s wishes, no funeral services will be held. A remembrance of Tony’s life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 8 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Holy Angels Parish Hall, which is located on Sycamore Street across from Safeway in Globe.
