Douglas K McPherson, real estate broker, age 79, passed away July 12, 2012. Doug was born in California but his family moved to Congress, Arizona, where his father was a mining engineer. A member of Delta Chi, he graduated from the University of Arizona where he met his first wife, Jane Maxwell and together had a son.
Upon his return from the Korean War, where he served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force, he worked for Standard Oil. He later married Josephine Guitteau and together had a daughter. He earned a MBA from Arizona State University and began building his commercial investment real estate company, Hermosa Realty, in Phoenix with his son.
Doug was the second person in Arizona to get the prestigious CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member) designation. While successful at work, his true love was enjoying life at his beach house in Rocky Point and living in the desert in New River. He ultimately retired to his childhood town of Wickenburg. Doug loved life, his family, and friends. He will be remembered for his jokes and smile and will be sorely missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James D McPherson and Pearl Willson and former wife Jane Maxwell Beckelhymer.
He is survived by son SCott D McPherson and daughter Lynn McPherson Espey, brother James W McPherson, 4 grandchildren, former wife Josephine Guitteau McPherson, and 4 nieces and nephews.
A private gathering of family and close friends will celebrate his life.
