FINNEY III, John Henry Vance


Havasu News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Posted: Sunday, September 2, 2012 - Lake Havasu City resident since 1987 John Henry Vance Finney III, “Van”, passed away Aug. 26, 2012. Born Dec. 5, 1950, in Chicago, Ill., Van was raised in Denver, Colo. For years, Van worked for multiple radio stations in the area doing advertising and sales. After leaving radio sales he worked for Bradley Ford, Bradley Chevy and Riverview. In April 2008, Van started the Laugh Out Loud Funny Papers and in that same year became a member of the Lake Havasu Men’s Bowling Association Hall of Fame. He also scored a perfect 300 game on lanes one and two of Havasu Lanes Feb. 2, 2010. Van was also a proud member of the Elks for 16 years. Having grown up in Denver, he was a huge Denver Broncos fan but he was also passionate about bowling, riding his Harley and laughing. He is remembered most for his sense of humor, smile, laughs and bad jokes. Van was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry Vance Jr. and Emma Mae Finney; and his sister, Margo Hendricks. Van is survived by his wife, Brenda Finney, of Lake Havasu City; sons, Chris and Drake Finney, of Yuma and Lake Havasu City, respectively; grandchildren, Kyle, Amber and Sadelle Finney, all of Lake Havasu City; step-grandchildren, Sabrina, Helena and Marianna Louridas, also of Lake Havasu City; sisters, Travis Dahl, of Aurora, Colo., and Deborah Zastrow, of Boise, Idaho; and numerous nieces, cousins and friends. The Celebration of Life will be at the Rods & Relics Room at the Aquatic Center Sept. 9, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Van’s name to the Western Arizona Humane Society, 1100 Empire, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86404 or to the Havasu Lanes Youth Area Bowling Association (Y.A.B.A.).
