Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Posted: Wednesday, September 12, 2012 12:00 am Peggy Burton passed away Sept. 9, 2012 at her home in Lake Havasu City, surrounded by family. Margaret "Peggy" Marie Burton was born June 9, 1929, in Salem, Ore., to Amos and Stella (Nixon) Minneman. On May 24, 1946, she married Glen "Phillip" Burton at Yuma, Ariz. They made their home in various California towns before living in Lakewood, Calif., for 15 years and then moved to Lake Havasu City in 1987 and remained here until her death. Peggy and Phillip were known for building a beautiful rock wall around their home, even getting the attention of the Daily Herald. She enjoyed being a member of the Eastern Star and Unity Church, along with writing children stories, reading mysteries and sewing. At the age of 40, after raising her family, she returned to college and received a degree in early childhood education and taught pre-school in California, and then Head Start after moving to Lake Havasu. Peggy is survived by her husband of 60 years, G. Phillip, of Lake Havasu City; three sons, Michael, of Hayden Lake, Idaho, Timothy (Sandra), of Phoenix, Ariz., and Dennis (Rhea), of Eureka, Nev.; two daughters, Deborah Hoyle, of Lake Havasu City, and April (Jim Stuart) Larson, of Sequim, Wash.; 13 grandchildren, Jennifer (Nick) Marchese, Erik Hoyle, Jason Hoyle, Sommer Larson, Lauren Newman, Matthew Burton, Steven Burton, Crystal Benton, Joel Gnosae, Matthew Gnosae, Marjorie Lemoine, Andrew Burton, Alysa Burton; and nine great-grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. A memorial service will take place at a later date. Memorials preferred to Hospice of Havasu.
