Martha Ann Fox passed away July 14, 2012 at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, Nev. Martha was born on a farm near Mayville, Mich., Aug. 23, 1926, to Ted and Ann Lyon. She attended Country school through the eighth grade. She graduated from Mayville High School in 1943 and moved to Detroit where she stayed with her brother until she was 18.
Martha moved to Flint, Mich., to work for A.C. Spark Plug where she met her future husband, Harold Snieder, and they were married in 1952. Harold quit A.C. Spark Plug and started his own company, Snieder Enterprises Inc., and became a manufacture’s representative. To keep busy, Martha started taking flight training and eventually became a certified flight instructor (CFII). She retired in 1980 having accumulated 8,000 hours. Harold died in 1979 and she married Harry Eriksen and moved to Asheville, N.C. Harry died in 1990. In 1993, Martha married her present husband, Garold Fox, in Gatlinburg, Tenn., and moved to Farmington Hills, Mich. Upon Garold’s retirement from Ford Motor Co., they moved to Lake Havasu City.
Martha enjoyed traveling, reading, going to Curves and visits from friends.
Martha is survived by her loving husband, Garol; step children Nancy Nunn, Gerald Snider and Harold Snider, of Michigan; her sister-in-law, Josephine Lyon, of Reno; niece, Nancy Johnson; and nephew, Bernard Lyon, of Phoenix.
A Celebration of Life will be at Lietz-Fraze Chapel, Lake Havasu City, Saturday at 11 a.m. Also a service was at the Avram Funeral Home in Mayville, Mich., Aug. 18, at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting memorials be sent to Mayville High School Alumni Scholarship Fund Mayville, Michigan 48774.
