MERRIGAN, Germain (Jerry)


Mohave Daily News, Mohave Valley, AZ - Published in Mohave Daily News Online from September 10 to September 17, 2012 - Germain "Jerry" Merrigan, age 74, a 40-year resident of Bullhead City, Ariz., was taken to Heaven on Saturday, August 25, 2012, in Las Vegas, Nev. Jerry was born in California and raised in South Dakota. He served in the US Army in Germany from 1956 to 1958. In 1972, Jerry moved to the area and built Jerry's R.V. Center, 5107 Highway 95, Bullhead City, Ariz. He retired in 1989 at the age of 51. Jerry was known as "Tucson Jerry" in the Laughlin poker rooms. He started Texas Hold 'em on the river and won many tournaments. His biggest thrill was winning the first championship poker tournament on the river at the Nevada Club. Prize money was $4,500. He also enjoyed playing poker at the Horseshoe in Las Vegas, Nev. He loved camping, fishing and traveling. During the summer if you wanted Jerry, you would find him at the 6 mile marker on Lake Mohave. Jerry will be missed by all that knew him. Jerry is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marlene; three sons, Dean'O Merrigan of Texas City, Texas, Mike (Valorie) Merrigan, and Joey (Raquel) Merrigan of Bullhead City, Ariz.; daughter, Dawn Stasiewski of Bullhead City, Ariz.; two brothers, Rick (Betty) Merrigan of Tucson, Ariz., and Steve Merrigan of Las Vegas, Nev.; sister, Jackie Merrigan of Las Vegas, Nev.; eleven grandchildren, Sabryna, Brittnee, Danny, Blake, Clay, Daniel, Bryce, Chase, Cameron, Dillon, and Jaycob; and five great-grandchildren A celebration of life with be held from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 15, 2012, at the Riverside Casino, 1650 Casino Drive, Laughlin, Nev. in the Bridgeview Room.
