BREINIG, Mark John

The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 09/18/2012 Mark John Breinig, 52, of Pinetop died Aug. 22, 2012, after a valiant battle with esophageal cancer. He was born Dec. 29, 1959, in Tucson. Mark was a beloved son, husband, father, brother and friend. He had an amazing lust for life, sense of humor and strong work ethic. Mark and Jessie began dating in 1983 and were married in 1987 after graduating from University of Arizona in Tucson. Mark received his bachelors in mechanical engineering. He later went on to receive his masters in business from University of Phoenix. Mark worked as a mechanical engineer for Phelps Dodge for three years (1987-1990) in Playas, N.M. Mark and Jessie relocated to Bullhead City in 1990. Mark spent the bulk of his career in the power production industry. He worked for Southern California Edison at the Mohave Generating Station from 1990 to 2007. Both of their children were born in Lake Havasu. When Edison decided to stop and dismantle the Mohave Generating Station, Mark made the hard decision to leave the company and took a job based in Phoenix, with Salt River Project (SRP). Mark and family relocated to Pinetop in 2007. He played a crucial role in helping build the SGS4 unit at Springerville. Mark was a loving man that filled so many people’s lives with wisdom, humor, positive attitude and will be missed by many. Anyone who had the privilege of knowing Mark will forever be touched by him. He loved the outdoors, reciting cowboy poetry, telling good and bad jokes, spending time with family and friends (especially on the phone), building models and flying remote control helicopters. “Cancer took him from us too soon.” The family has asked that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Mark’s name to Hospice of the Valley or your local hospice. Mark is survived by his wife of 25 years, Jessica Wells Breinig; son Nathan Breinig; daughter Megan Breinig; father Howard (Sally) Breinig; mother Betty Stinger (Kelvin); Bill and Susanne Stockton (honorary parents); eight brothers and sisters and a large extended family.
