HEGBLOOM, Vanner Joseph

Arizona Silver Belt, Globe, Arizona Tuesday, September 18, 2012 Vanner Joseph Hegbloom, 87, of Globe passed away at his home on Sept. 7, 2012. Vanner was born in Rhinelander, Wisc. on March 18, 1925. He was the oldest son of Vanner G. and Eva (Meyers) Hegbloom. Shortly after his graduation from high school in Saxon, Wisc., Vanner joined the U.S. Army and served in Japan. Upon his discharge Vanner worked in the iron mines of northern Michigan, and began a career in the mining industry which lasted his lifetime. He worked as a miner and later as a trainer and safety engineer in such diverse places as northern Idaho, Bolivia, New Mexico, Colorado, and Saudi Arabia. He ended his working life in the Globe-Miami area. He loved Arizona and made it his home during his retirement. Vanner loved mining and to the amusement and sometimes the consternation of his family, actually dug three basements under the homes his family was living in. He believed in hard work, and he knew how to play hard as well. He enjoyed social life and was widely known as a wonderful dancer. His enthusiasm for life and his generosity toward others will be treasured, especially by the surviving members of his family; brother, James Hegbloom (Elaine); children, Vanner M. Hegbloom (Karen), Mark Hegbloom (Etta), Anne Hegbloom, Charles Sweeny, Claudia Adams, Richard Adams, Monte Johnson (Diana), James R. Dalmolin, D. Ray Dalmolin (Cheryl), Wayne Dalmolin (Barbara), Bret Dalmolin, Tammy Zaragoza (Dan), and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Hegbloom; wife, Fran Hegbloom; children, Kirk Hegbloom, Goldy Sweeny, and Anthony (Didder) Johnson. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting all donations be made to: Globe V.F.W. Post 1704, 707 S. Broad St., Globe, Arizona 85501, phone 928-425-0888. A memorial service was held at the Globe V.F.W. Post 1704, 707 S. Broad St., Globe, Ariz. on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012. Funeral arrangements for Vanner J. Hegbloom were entrusted to Miles Funeral Services Globe.
