WEIERMANN, William LeRoy (Bill)


Black’s Show Low Mortuary, Show Low, Arizona William LeRoy Weiermann (December 2, 1935 ~ September 17, 2012) William Weiermann, 76, of Show Low, passed away on September 17, 2012 at the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. Bill was born at home during a snowstorm in Ringgold County, Iowa to Birdie (Hamblin) and William Weiermann. Bill was the oldest of 5 children, George, Carl, Gordon and Daniel. In 1953, at the age of 17, he joined the US Army. He married Delores Steiner in February of 1967. He met her while he was attending Lutheran Nursing School in Milwaukee; he was the only man in the class. Together, they had 2 children Christopher and Joan. He graduated from the Wichita Physicians Nurse Anesthesia School in 1971. In 1977 he married Lydia Mendoza Algeria. He met her at the hospital where he was teaching anesthesia. Lydia already had 1 child, Eric. Together they had 2 more children; Leilani and Guillermo Weiermann. In 1984 he moved to the White Mountains to manage the Surgery Department at Navapache Regional Medical Center. In 1982 Bill honorably retired from the US Army as a Colonel and joined the US Army Reserve Nurse Corp where he served until 1992. During his military career he served in many places; including Germany, Africa and in Desert Storm, where he was the Chief Nurse of a Combat Support Hospital. On January 26, 2002 he married Penny Fry Siefert. Penny already had 2 children; Ashley and Ben Siefert. Bill was an avid hunter and fisherman. He even used to fish on the Bass Pro Tour. He enjoyed reading and talking with people. Bill was active in the White Mountain United Methodist Church, where he has served as the Lay Leader for many years as well as being a lay speaker, teacher, facilitator and delegate to the annual conference. Bill was well known and loved by many because of all the years he spent doing anesthesia here on the mountain and around the state. He quit practicing anesthesia when his license ran out at the end of July. He will be missed. Bill was preceded in death by: Father and Mother, Brother, Gordon and Son, Guillermo Benito. He is survived by: Wife, Penny (Fry-Siefert) Weiermann of Show Low, Daughters; Joan (William) Curley of Waldorf, MD, Leilani (Justin) Dean of Taos, NM and Ashley Siefert of Winter Garden, FL, Sons; Christopher Weiermann of Tucson, AZ, Ben Siefert of Park City, UT and Eric Algeria of Ajo, AZ, Brothers; George of Two Rivers, WI, Carl of Manitowac,WI and Daniel of Harker Heights, TX, Grandchildren; Timothy Weiermann serving in the US Navy, Kryzentia Weiermann, Brandon Curley, Rochelle Algeria, Stephen Algeria and 3 week old Amaya Rose Dean, and 2 Great Grandchildren. In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to the United Methodist Committee on Relief or other Charity of their choice in his name.
