ROWIN, Della

(Maiden Name: Lujan)

The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Thursday, September 20, 2012 Della Lujan Rowin Aug. 30, 1938 ~ Sept. 15, 2012 Della was the fourth child born to C.R. Lujan and Rose Valencia Lujan in Santa Fe, N.M. She graduated from Los Alamos High School in 1956, and shortly after that moved to southern California. There she held a series of jobs until her marriage to Harry Rowin. She is survived by her husband Harry; daughter Judith Stark; daughter Nanci Rowin-Mapes (Rick); granddaughter Rachel Valiensi (James); great-grandson James Patrick Valiensi III; brothers, Joe, Christopher, Jerry, Peter, Paul; sisters, Elizabeth Rettig, Judy and Linda Wood. Della was a reluctant stay-at-home mom. When the children were old enough she put herself back into the job market, eventually becoming Assistant Sales Manager for the Universal Studios Tour. After a year in Hawaii, she moved to Prescott, Ariz., where she began a series of volunteer jobs. She really loved her job as a cart driver for the local hospital. At the same time, she donated her time to the Telephone Pioneers and to the Mile High British and European Car Club. Della endured a two-year battle with cancer. A celebration of her life is being planned from 1 to 5 p.m. on Oct. 6, 2012, at her home in Prescott. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Good Samaritan Society in Prescott would be appreciated. Final arraignments are being provided by The Neptune Society. Information provided by survivors.
