The Verde Independent, Cottonwood, Arizona Thursday, September 20, 2012 Shirley Elaine Panzer was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 7, 1925. She died September 1, 2012 in Cottonwood. She lived in Windsor, Canada with her parents: John and Eleanor Petersen, plus four brothers and sisters. She went into nurses training for 2 years. Her father changed jobs and they moved to Illinois. She married Max, moved to Colorado where they raised their three children. In 1980 when Max and Shirley retired, they moved to Cottonwood and built their home there. Shirley enjoyed going to Lutheran church, traveling in their motor home, square dancing, and living for several months during the winter in a small town in Mexico. For the last several years they stayed home & settled down. Information provided by survivors.
