The Verde Independent, Cottonwood, Arizona Thursday, September 20, 2012 Edgar E. Downing Jr. passed away On September 16, 2012 in Cottonwood. He was born on July 30, 1921 in Mobile, AL to Edgar E. Downing, Sr. and Stella Lovelace. Edgar attended the University of New Mexico for 3 years and worked for Sandia Corp. Edgar enlisted in the Navy during WWII and was a navel gunner on merchant marine ships. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Edgar will be missed by friends and family. Edgar was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline Gill Downing and daughter Julie Ann Downing. He is survived by daughter Roabie Downing Johnson (Jerry) of Flagstaff, AZ.
