MARTIN, Robert Lee


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 09/21/2012 Robert Lee Martin, 68, died peacefully Sept. 18, 2012, at home. He was born Nov. 25, 1943 in El Paso, Texas to Fred and Kitty Martin. Robert graduated from Round Valley High School in Eagar in 1961. He served an LDS mission in Brazil from 1965-67. He married Tonna Larré Sherwood Sept. 3, 1970, in the Mesa Arizona Temple. Bob was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and served in many positions including Bishop of the Springerville Ward, as a religious volunteer at the state prison, and he loved working with the young men. Since 1975 he was an Electrical Contractor, a trade he learned from his father and taught to his sons and numerous others. He also worked for Apache County as an electrician and building inspector. He is survived by his loving wife, Tonna of 42 years; five children: Michael (Camille), Matthew (Janis), Sherrod (Sarah), Bryan (Karen), Ashlee (Collin Smith), and 10 grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Charles and Fred Martin and sister Kitty Butler. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at the Eagar LDS Stake Center.
