Gloria Yvonne Andersen Day died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012, at her home in Mesa, surrounded by her family.
Gloria was born Nov. 29, 1928, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Otto and Caroline Ireta Andersen. She was the second of six children. She grew up and lived in Salt Lake City until she met and married her sweetheart, Francis Willard Day. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple June 23, 1948. They made their home in her husband’s hometown of St. Johns. They became the parents of seven daughters and two sons. She was loved and honored by her husband, her children and her grandchildren.
Gloria loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She enjoyed and excelled in cooking, sewing and crocheting and blessed her family and loved ones with many of the projects that she made. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Gloria served faithfully in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in many positions, including Relief Society President and Young Women’s Secretary.
Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Willard Day, daughter Debra Day, son Francis W. Day, Jr., grandson Porter Wilhelm, her parents and sister Yvette Curtis.
Gloria will be dearly missed by the family she leaves behind. She is survived by seven children: Roxanne Wilhelm (Merv), Tamera Gardner (Richard), Renee Rowley, Rechelle Price (Perry), Jennifer Brooks (Mike), Bridget Rushing (Sonny) and Brett Day (Sandy). She is also survived by 33 grandchildren and 59 great-grandchildren, two sisters: Delores Rushton and Judy Wilcox, and two brothers: Bruce and Brent Andersen.
Funeral services for Gloria Day will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, in the St. Johns LDS Downtown Chapel with Bishop Travis Heap of the Salem Ward officiating.
The family will receive friends Friday night from 7-9 p.m. at the St. Johns Burnham Mortuary and from 9-9:45 a.m. Saturday before the funeral in the Relief Society Room. Interment will follow the funeral at the St. Johns City Cemetery.
