The Verde Independent, Cottonwood, Arizona Thursday, September 27, 2012 Phyllis Ann Straub died on August 27, 2012 in Cottonwood, Arizona with members of her family by her side. She was born in Lancaster, Ohio on September 4, 1948 to Virginia and Issac (Sandy) Starner. With her family, she came to Tempe in 1962. She attended Tempe High School, from where she graduated in 1966 and then Arizona State University. Phyllis married Glenn Straub in 1967 and they moved to Cottonwood in 1971. She and Glenn owned a real estate appraisal business in Cottonwood. Phyllis enjoyed hiking in the woods with her dogs, but most of all she loved the ocean and walks on the beach. She is survived by her husband, Glenn Straub, daughters, Kathryn Rhodes, Michelle Federico and Laura Ortiz, sisters, Darlene Fouts and Jeannine Steiwig, and seven grandchildren. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to the Verde Valley Community Hospice, 859 Cove Parkway, Suite 103, Cottonwood, AZ. Information provided by survivors.
