Journal Star (Peoria IL) Friday, August 24, 2012 Gladys Evelyn (Morse) Herrick, age 84, of Elmwood passed away at 3:06am Thursday, Aug 23, 2012, at her home. She was born May 28, 1928, in rural Middlegrove, the daughter of James and Blanche (Dykeman) Morse. She married Ghlee F Herrick in 1946. They divorced in 1972. He survives. She then married Leland Long form Winfield, Iowa, in 1972. He preceded her in death. She later married Wesley Herrick in Roanoke in 1996. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Cheryl Lynn Herrick; three brothers; and six sisters. Surviving are eight children, David (Debbie) Herrick of Smithfield, Linda (Herrick) Payne of Salina, Kan., Gale (Betty) Herrick of Cuba, Dennis Herrick of Ozona, Fla., Wanda Herrick of Elmwood, with whom she made her home, Richard (Karen) Herrick of Winfield, Iowa, Marsha Herrick of Canton and JR (Teresa) Herrick of Cedarville, Ga; three stepsons, Tom (Jean) Herrick of Metamora, Steve (Jackie) Herrick of Victoria and Bill (Sue) Herrick of Norris; two sisters, Monna (Bub) Mulenthaler of Ankeny, Iowa, and Donna (Merle) Doubet of Wickenburg, Ariz; 21 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins, all remembered with love. Gladys was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Besides being a mother she went back to school and received her LPN license in 1977 from Southeastern Community College in Burlington, Iowa. She worked as a nurse until her retirement in 1990. She loved spending time with her family, playing cards and cooking. Funeral services will be at 10:30am Monday, Aug 27, 2012, at the Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba, with the Rev Fred Gebbink officiating. Burial will be in Baughman Cemetery in rural Smithfield. Visitation will be from 2 to 4pm Sunday Aug 26, 2012, at the memorial home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lymphoma Society. Gone but never forgotten.
