The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Saturday, September 29, 2012 Randy Hanks At 10:28 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, Randy Hanks departed this life with his boots on. Randy was born in Houston, Texas. A devoted Texan, and considered quite the gentleman all his life, he was proclaimed by Governor Ann Richards as an Admiral in the Texas Navy. Randy, Cheryl, three rescued dachshunds and a tortoise moved to the Prescott, Ariz., area in February 2004 because they fell in love with the great state of Arizona, its history, and her beauty. He is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl Largent Hanks; his mother, Gale Diggs Hanks; children Russell Sanford and Leah Bailey; grandchildren Devin, Talon Randall, Brighten Bailey and Kristen Sanford; sisters Diane Koonce, Pamela Hanks and Phyllis Wagner; his four-legged children George and Lilly Hanks; and many other beloved family and friends. Randy was a lifetime member of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, The Harley Owners Group of South Houston, Texas, The Single-Action Shooting Society and the Historical Diving Society. He was a founding member and former president of the Prescott Regulators & Their Shady Ladies Inc., and the founder of the annual "Shootout on Whiskey Row." Randy loved history, raising money for charity, reenacting and telling stories. He was a world traveler, and a hard-working, dedicated husband and father. He touched many lives and his charismatic personality influenced and endeared him to many people. He can never be replaced nor will he be forgotten. RIDE ON RANDY!
