MILLER, Mary Louise

Fort Wayne Newspapers (Indiana) Saturday, August 18, 2012 Mary Louise (Witmer) Miller, of Estes Park, Colo., passed away on Tuesday, Aug 14, 2012. "Because of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and our hope found in Him, we can experience the true joy of the graduation to heaven of our mother, grandmother and friend to all. Our hearts are torn between grief and gladness at Mary's crossing over into the realm of eternity and trading her earthly body for her heavenly one. Mary's life was a reflection of her joy-filled simple but strong faith." Born in northern Indiana in 1928, she was raised in the Mennonite tradition of faith. She grew up in a family and community where living simply and peacefully with all 'was a way of life'. Mary met and married James Miller in 1952. With James, she found a partner who shared her commitment to faith, peace and service to others as they built a family with a twin boy and girl. In addition to being a wonderful mother and wife, she served as Executive Administrative Assistant to the President of Fort Wayne National Bank for many years. She was very involved in North Leo Mennonite Church and served as Sunday School Superintendent and teacher, the Hostess Committee, Mennonite Women (who quilt for overseas missions) and taught Bible school among other things. She moved from Fort Wayne Indiana to Estes Park, Colorado about 10 years ago to be closer to her daughter, Sherie Strong. She immediately engaged herself with helping at Sherie's store Cottage Bliss and the Christian Church of Estes Park. She enjoyed starting a quilting ministry, Sisters of Faith. They handcrafted quilts with the proceeds going to support mission work around the world. All of this was done because she wanted to use her talents for her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. She spent her last two years as a resident at Prospect Park Living Center. "She never tired of serving others as she would spend much of her time checking up on and visiting residents. In addition, she loved the amazing staff and we are extremely grateful for the level of care she was shown there by them all." She is survived by her daughter, Sherie (Larry) Strong of Estes Park; son, Larry (Cindy) Miller of Black Canyon City, Ariz; grandson, Stephan Miller; and great-granddaughter, Brooklynn.
