The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 10/09/2012 Claryn Hamstra Acuna, 61, of White Mountain Lake died Friday, Sept. 28, 2012 at her home after a courageous fight with cancer. She was born Feb. 21, 1951 in Downey, Calif., the daughter of Jack and Gigi Hamstra, she attended schools in Norwalk, Calif. and graduated from Excelsior High School with the class of 1969. She also attended Western Wyoming Community College in Rock Springs, Wyo. She worked and lived in the Rock Springs area from 1986-99 when she relocated to White Mountain Lake, with her husband, Florencio (Mico) Acuna. She was the post mistress for the White Mountain Lake Post Office for 10 years. Her interests included antique collecting and ‘kicking rocks’ in the high plains deserts of Southwest Wyoming and Arizona, and spending time with family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Florencio (Mico) Acuna of White Mountain Lake, as well as his children and many brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews; daughter Claryn Leigh Cole and John and their children: Brooke, Dathan and MacKenzie all of White Mountain Lake; sister Terri (John) Vase of Rock Springs, Wyo.; brother Chuck Hamstra (Patty) of Sheridan, Mont.; several nieces and nephews, and special lifetime friends Glen and Joanie Roberts of Portland, Ore. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Gigi Hamstra. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be conducted at a later date.
