Clifford Byrum Cooper, 75, of Lake Havasu City, has gone to be with the Lord Oct. 4, 2012 while surrounded by friends and family. He was born Aug. 9, 1937, to Clifford and Ruth (Gunter) Cooper in Austin, Ark.
After graduating from high school, Cliff joined the U.S. Air Force and served in Anchorage, Alaska. He then worked as a lineman with the Bureau of Reclamation with the Department of Energy for 40 years until retiring. He was active in the community as a member of the Elks, Eagles, and a volunteer for the VFW, driving the patients’ van to Phoenix and Prescott. He met his wife, Darlene, while visiting friends in Lake Havasu City. They were married Aug. 10, 2000, at Moorhead, Minn. He loved riding motorcycles with the Dry Heat Riders and traveling by RV. Hawaii was his favorite vacation spot and his highlight was cruising through the Panama Cannel. He cherished his time with Darlene and his stepchildren and other family members. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him.
Cliff is survived by his wife, Darlene, of Lake Havasu City; two stepchildren, Lori Gullingsrud, of Fargo, N.D., and Randy Schmidt, of Valley City, N.D.; three step-grandchildren, Nichole Bye, of Casselton, N.D., Brianna Schmidt, of West Fargo, N.D., and Alex Schmidt, of Moorhead, Minn.; two sisters, S. Jacqueline Herrington, of Crossett, Ark., and Cynthia Harrison, of Austin, Ark. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James Cooper and Raymond Cooper; and sisters, Marlian Byrd and Olga Thomas.
A memorial service will take place at Lake Havasu Mortuary Chapel, 2225 North Kiowa Blvd., Saturday, at 2 p.m. The Marine Corps League to present military honors.
