The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 10/12/2012 Lorana Fish Mineer, 88, of Phoenix died on Oct. 3, 2012, at Casa Grande Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Mineer was born Nov. 12, 1923, in San Pedro, Calif. to Lorana Rogers and John E. Fish. Lorana attended school in Arizona and Utah. She was valedictorian of her eighth grade and high school classes and was awarded a scholarship to University of Utah. She worked in Salt Lake City and Richfield, Utah, and met and married Ted Mineer. They were busy in several family-owned businesses in Richfield. She later was a court reporter and, after moving to Arizona, was a semiconductor sales associate for General Electric Company for nearly 30 years. Active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she held various church callings. However, genealogy was her life’s pursuit and passion. She worked untiringly to assemble records of her family and accumulated data on more than 15,000 people. She was devoted to her family and also had a caring attitude toward others. She was very helpful to people. She worked on election boards in Pinal and Maricopa counties for many years. Besides her family, two of her greatest enjoyments were travel and tennis. In the 1970s she learned to ride a motorcycle and in the ’90s she decided to learn Spanish. She is survived by her son, Roger Mineer of Casa Grande; brother Ardith Fish of Elko, Nev.; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters, two brothers and a grandson. Graveside services were held Saturday, Oct. 6, in the Lakeside Cemetery with a luncheon and tribute following services. J.
