Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Posted: Sunday, October 14, 2012 - Helen Arlene Bauer passed away Oct. 8, 2012 with her loving husband by her side. Helen was born Jan. 4, 1932, in Seattle, Wash., to John and Catherine (Tappe) Norris. Helen’s career spanned over 45 years in the banking industry with Seattle 1st National Bank, later to be Bank of America. Helen and her husband have fond memories from their summer cabin located on Vashon Island, Wash. Helen had a zest for life and enjoyed entertaining their many treasured friends. She also enjoyed traveling the world with Don in their retirement years, with over 30 trips alone escorted by Lake Havasu’s Bartlett Tours, in addition to their own private travels. Helen and Don chose Lake Havasu City to be their permanent home in March 1995, where Helen had several part-time jobs in the clothing and beauty industry. Helen is survived by the love of her life, Don, whom she married Oct. 20, 1956; along with the many friends she made and cherished both in Washington and Lake Havasu City. Helen always had a pet in her life and they held a special place in her heart. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helen’s name to The Western Arizona Humane Society, 1100 Empire Drive, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86404. Don would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at New Hope Hospice for their compassion and care during the last days of her beautiful life.
