STEURI, Grace

(Maiden Name: Malmborg)

Norvel Owens Mortuary, Flagstaff, Arizona Grace Steuri (April 16, 1927 - October 13, 2012) Grace Steuri, raconteur extraordinaire, moved onto a greater entertainment venue on October 13, 2012. Gracie was born 04/16/1927 in Galesburg, IL. Her mother, Charlotte Gillerman was from Chicago. IL, and her father, Carl Malmborg, emigrated from Sweden. Gracie was a very talented pianist and had her first recital at the age of four. It was there she learned that she loved to be “center stage” and remained there for the rest of her life. Definitely the fashion plate with her snow white hair and flashy wardrobe, she was also a very adept communicator, and was very much the “star” wherever she went. Gracie worked for several years in Beverly Hills in a stock brokerage, later she worked at “Two Moons”, with American Indian treasures. She then developed a passion for dolls and became quite successful as an antique doll dealer and was a long-time member of numerous doll associations where she made countless friends with her boundless wit. Gracie was known for her lively tales of sailing the seven seas with the love of her life, Bob. They built a lovely home in Burbank, CA, and retired in Flagstaff in 1999. She was a sincere and often overly daring lover of all animals, sometimes to the horror of her husband (“No, Gracie, don’t play with that orangutan!”). Bob pre-deceased her in 2002. She is survived by many adoring cousins and nieces and by her daughter, Cyndi. Graveside services will be held at Citizen’s Cemetery on Thursday, October 18, at 2:00. A “life” celebration will be held Sunday, October 21, from 2:00 to 4:00 at her daughter’s. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Northland Hospice or Second Chance.
