Oscar Luis Leschhorn, age 66, an 8-year resident of Fort Mohave, Ariz., passed away on Thursday, October 11, 2012, at his home in Fort Mohave, with his loving wife, Peggy, and stepson, Conrad Meyen, at his side.
He was born June 21, 1946, in Bogota, Columbia.
Oscar attended Buena Park High School in California, and owned his first gas station, Phillips 66, at the age of 18 years old in Buena Park. In the early 1980's, he moved his family to Big Bear Lake, Calif., and purchased a Mobile gas station and later converted it to the present Valero gas station. In 2004, he retired to Fort Mohave.
In the early 1990's, Oscar had a passion for outdoor sports, including wake boarding, snowboarding, mountain bike riding, golf, bowling and jeeping.
Oscar was a fun guy to be around and had a great sense of humor. The courage and strength with which he fought his long battle with cancer showed his true character and that was so admirable.
Oscar will be missed, and loved by his wife, Peggy; oldest daughter, Bridget; younger daughter, Michelle (Cobham); stepson, Conrad Meyen; stepdaughter, Janna Weatherby; two sisters Sonia Putney and Monica Miller; and three grandchildren, Shawn "aka LSM", Deagon and Curren.
In addition to his many wonderful friends in the community, Oscar also had an extended family in Dominican Republic recently brought together by his illness of prostate cancer.
