JOHN E. SABLE (1939 - 2012)
John E. Sable, age 73, a 19-year resident of Bullhead City, Ariz., died in a plane crash outside Yucca, Ariz., on Thursday, October 18, 2012.
John, a well known CPA in Ft. Mohave, Ariz., was born to Henry and Alice Sable in Wamego Kansas. He grew up in this small town with his large family and later graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in accounting.
After 4 years with the accounting firm of Deloitte Touche, he went to work for the National Bank of Commerce in Lincoln, Nebraska. He served as CFO for First Commerce Bancshares until 1993, when he and his wife, Rainie Sable, moved to Ft. Mohave.
Rainie and John owned and operated Colorado River Business Services, accounting and tax firm until they sold it in 2006. Since that time to the present, John did tax work for select clients and friends.
John was a quiet man, who considered his tax clients not just clients but friends, and he always went the extra yard for his friends.
Aside from Rainie, John's great passion in life was flying. He was an aircraft owner and pilot for more than 35 years. John never came back from flying without a big grin on his face. Each afternoon, except during the tax season, John would go to his hanger at the Eagle airport and talk with his best friends, Tom Watson, Kevin
Greene and Bill Dare, about flying and the local goings on in Ft. Mohave. While others had their golf and bridge in semi-retirement, John had his plane and hanger-talk with his friends.
After having some repairs done to his plane at the Havasu Airport, John picked it up on Thursday and took off about noon. The plane made it approximately 20 miles from the airport before it crashed. John died doing what he loved to do, flying.
He is survived by his wife, Rainie Sable; stepdaughter, Carrie Burgoon of Swartz Creek, Mich.; sister, Mary DelPupp of Fayetteville, Ark.; three brothers, Frank Sable of Wamego, Kan., Louis Sable of Rogersville, Mo., and Joe Sable of Chicago Ill.; and three grandchildren, Kyle, Kylie and Lexie Burgoon of Swartz Creek, Mich.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday October 25, 2012, at Diamond & Sons Silver Bell Chapel, 2620 Silver Creek Road, Bullhead City, Ariz.
