Vera "Sis" Pinkerman
(January 28, 1938 - October 20, 2012)
Vera “Sis” Pinkerman of Flagstaff, AZ lived 77 full years before being welcomed to heaven on Saturday October 20th, 2012.
She was born Vera May Beamer on January 28th, 1935 in Flagstaff, AZ to Louise Greenlaw Beamer and Layton Beamer, and was the granddaughter of Charles Greenlaw, one of Flagstaff's first pioneers.
She grew up in Flagstaff and lived there for most of her life. She attended school at Flagstaff High School and later ASU and NAU, and was active in her sorority, Beta Sigma Phi for many years.
She had a great passion for skiing, and when her children were young she worked as a ski instructor at the Arizona Snow Bowl, then later relayed her passion to her grandchildren by teaching them to ski as well. She also enjoyed golf and bridge; two hobbies that helped her make and sustain many friendships.
At age 44 she married Russ Pinkerman who preceded her in death in 2001.
She was a caring and thoughtful mother and grandmother, affectionate great-grandmother and loyal friend. Family and friends will always remember her for her vivacious nature and her selfless acts of generosity. She was truly adored by all who knew her. Her last days of life were spent loving her family and cheering them on. She will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish her memory is her brother Jack Beamer, son Steve Rawlinson, and daughters Mary Steinlein, and Suzan Bafford, as well as her 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A celebration of life is planned for November 3rd at the Mt. Elden Golf Resort from 1:00-4:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project:
