Ann was born May 21, 1922 in Bayonne, N.J., even though her mother was a resident of Lindenhurst, Long Island, N.Y. Seems her mother went to visit a cousin, and Ann, determined and strong-willed as she would turn out to be, decided it was time to be born. Ann and her family moved to the Wickenburg area in 1946, and she continued to reside there until moving to the Pioneer’s Home in 2007. Being a longtime resident of Wickenburg and a devout parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, she was an active participant of the Adoration Society, Ladies Alter Society and Martha’s Circle, which provided luncheons for church funeral/memorial receptions. Martha’s Circle was created by a very dear friend of Ann’s, Martha Lang. Ann was part of this very special Circle from its inception. Ann lived a positive life filled with unconditional love, compassion for others, very dedicated to family and friends and would put everyone first before herself. She loved pansies, sweet peas and roses. Her sweet peas would get as high as six feet tall and smelled heavenly. Everyone marveled at the sight and could hardly wait for spring to come. She took pride in how her rose bushes would always bloom and smell so fragrant. Funeral Mass for Ann will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 1) at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, with Rosary being said just prior at 10:30 a.m. Ann’s final resting place will be in the Columbarium of St. Anthony’s Church. She was preceded in death by her mother Louise Johnson; a sister Theresa Mayer; her son-in-law Tex Bidegain; a son George Gugel III; and two grandsons, Christopher and Marty Bidegain. Ann is survived by daughters Ann Bidegain of Casa Grande, Judi Hill of Congress, Lois (Dick) Aronson of Tolleson, and Jeri (Sil) Modesti of Phoenix; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and three nephews. There is no other Mom like you, of that we are quite sure, for no matter what the pain, you always had a cure. Blessed is the Mother who lets the Lord be her guiding hand, whose faith brings her family courage, whose wisdom comes from God, and whose children still stand and honor her. The family suggests memorial contributions in Ann’s memory be made to Granite Mountain Hospice, 3107 Clearwater Dr. Prescott, AZ 86305 or to Arizona Pioneer’s Home, 300 S. McCormick St. Prescott, AZ 86303, Attn: Activity Fund. Friends may offer online condolences at www.wickenburgfuneralhome.com.
