Lee Kirch passed away on Thursday, October 26, while at FMC. Lee Ann Hellekson was born September 9, 1948 in Syracuse, NY, the third of four children.
She grew up in NY and did her nursing studies at Kent State University. Lee taught nursing for 30 years in Arizona and California moving to Flagstaff in 1998 to continue her career as an RN. In recent years she served as RN at the Beaver Street Family Practice Clinic for ten years. She was well-known and loved by medical professionals and her patients.
Lee is survived by husband John Kirch of Flagstaff (married in 1987), son David Bethea of Dallas, daughter Audrey Bethea of Phoenix, brother Owen of Hawaii, brother David of Phoenix, and brother Eric of Cleveland, Ohio.
Lee had a special compassion and concern for those suffering with HIV/Aids. She also loved to read as a life-long learner. She was actively involved with Church of the Resurrection sharing her genuine love for people, caring ways, and delightful sense of humor. She was well-known and appreciated for her ability to rise above her personal suffering to address the needs of others.
We rejoice that she is with her Lord and free of pain. Her Celebration of Life Service will be Friday, November 2, at 3:00 p.m. at the Norvel Owens Mortuary Chapel in Flagstaff. All are welcome.
