Kenneth "Kenny" Charles Grebel
January 21, 1923 ~ November 7, 2012
Kenneth Charles Grebel, born January 21, 1923, was the only son of Kenneth Francis and Anna Selzer Grebel. His father died when he was eleven years old, which forced him to go to work to help support his mother at a very young age. Kenny had a powerful work ethic and strong sense of family responsibility throughout his entire life.
A member of the "Greatest Generation", Kenny served in World War II, spending most of his time on the front lines in Europe, and fought in and survived the Battle of the Bulge. A deeply religious man, he never waivered from his Catholic faith. He imparted a love of nature to his children with annual trips to Yosemite. His skill as a writer made receiving a letter from him a valued treasure.
Kenny is survived by his wife of 63 years, Frances Keegan Grebel; their children, Thomas Grebel of Santa Ana, CA; Margaret and Robert Nagy of Cloverdale, CA; Mary Frances and Bill Trujillo of Rhododendron, OR; Patricia Grebel and Matthew Strong of Stowe, VT; Claire and Ray Noack of Goleta, CA; Loretta and Gary Magnuson of McKinleyville, CA; Kenneth P. and Cherie Grebel of Santa Ana, CA; James Grebel of Goleta, CA; Stephen and Cynthia Grebel of Myrtle Creek, OR; and John and Pamela Grebel of Marshall, MN. He was predeceased by his daughter, Catherine Grebel. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Joshua, Jacob, Whitnee, Dylan, Joel, Kelsey, Colton, Cicily and Isabelle.
Rosary for Kenny begins at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 13, 2012 followed by the Funeral Mass at 2:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 150 Fluery, Prescott, AZ.
Committal service is at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at the Prescott National Cemetery with Military Honors presented by the American Legion Post #6 in Prescott.
