Mohave County Miner, Kingman, Arizona Dec. 30, 1921 CHARLEY JOHNSON CALLED BY DEATH THURSDAY NOON After a game fight for health covering several years Charley Johnson passed to his reward Thursday noon. Death came without pain and was not unexpected the funeral services will be conducted by the Masonic Lodge and will be held Saturday afternoon from the St Johns Methodist Episcopal Church Rev Thomas H Dodd delivering the funeral sermon. Mr Johnson was born in Casnovia Michigan in 1878. His boyhood days were spent in Minnesota and Iowa and when 21 years of age he went back to Michigan where he remained for a couple of years going to Oregon in 1901. He was married in 1903 to Estella Adams of Interlocked Michigan. He was engaged in carpentry and farming in Oregon until 1913 when his health failed him. Three years later he came to Kingman where he has lived until death called him Mr. Johnson was active until the last. When not too weak he spent his time working on his home in Metcalfe Addition. When confined to his bed he spent many weary hours writing stories and poems some of which were published. Besides his wife and a son Glen Johnson he is survived by a mother and a brother and sister all of whom appreciated the man and will mourn his loss.
