Alice Juanita Mercer, died November 6, 2012 at the age of 88. She was born December 8, 1923 on a farm in Canadian, Texas to Earl and Alice Mercer. She had five sisters, Zelma, Ruth, Faye, Bell, Carla and one brother, Therman Earl.
Throughout her life she was the one who kept our extended family connected. Her love of family and frequent calls to the extended family were some things all appreciated. Alice loved researching her family history, discussing politics and was known for her long conversations about our government and our energy policies. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Her favorite pastime was gardening, where many hours were spent.
Alice was married to Lloyd M. Carnagey and moved to California in the early 1940’s. The two had four children, three boys and one girl. They spent their early married years raising their children in Lancaster, Calif.
Alice moved to Williams, Ariz. in 1965 and spent most of the rest of her life there. She was active in the church and with senior activities throughout her life. She traveled extensively in North and Central America. The family always enjoyed it when she shared her travel experiences with them.
Alice was preceded in death by her son Kenneth.
She will be dearly missed and never be forgotten by her children Dennis (Virgina) Carnagey, Robert (Marlene) Carnagey and Linda (Steven) Russell; her grandchildren Stephanie (Frank) Schulte, Janine (Frank) Rotter, Matthew (Michele) Carnagey, Kenneth Carnagey and Katherine Carnagey; her great grandchildren Lillian and Rebecca Carnagey, Nicholas and Breanne Schulte, Christian Craig and Karrina Rotter; and her four great, great grandchildren.
The celebration of life for Alice will be held at the United Methodist Community Church, Williams, on Saturday November 17 at 1:00 pm.
The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers and support from friends and the community.
