March 14, 1916 ~ October 3, 2012
James (“Jim”) Spensley Ruhoff, 96, passed away on October 3, 2012 in Tucson, Arizona after a courageous battle with congestive heart failure and the complications of MRSA.
Jim was the youngest of three brothers of Otto and Alice Ruhoff of Madison, Wisconsin. He followed his older brothers in the field of Chemistry, graduating from the University of Wisconsin. The Monsanto Company was his workplace home for nearly 30 years. Jim met his lovely Nancy Pomeroy (from Carmi, Illinois) in the early 1940‘s, and they married in 1945 at Grand Chapel, Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri.
Jim and Nancy lived in Webster Groves, Missouri from 1946 to 1963 and then moved to Clayton, Missouri, were Jim lived happily and independently for the last 47 years of his life. Wherever Jim went accolades of “favorite” seemed to follow: favorite neighbor, resident, client and patient. Jim’s endearing manner touched our hearts in the quiet yet significant ways in which he shared his life.
Help us remember Jim with a story you may remember about his quick wit, his persistence, his love of children or, quite simply, a way in which his life may have subtlety impacted yours over the years.
