Charles Edward Tilston, born Feb. 6, 1924, to Joseph and Ruth Tilston. Charles was known as Chuck. Grew up in Chicago, married Beverly Valbert, who was the love of his life for 65 years. Raised three children in Indiana. He leaves behind Beverly; their son, Gregg Tilston (Pam); daughters, Sherri Harsh (Marty), Terri Weeks (John); three grandchildren, Kim Rogers (Mike), Gary Weeks (Christina) and Bridgett Milner (Alan); nine great-grandchildren whom he was known to as Papa. He was the rock of the family and will be missed terribly. The most important thing in his life was his family and he was one of the most loving humans ever put on this earth by the dear Lord.
Charles was at the CC Camp in Michigan. Marines from 1942 to 1945 WWII. Six weeks alone on an island occupied by Japanese. Korean War too. Deacon for Presbyterian Church. Boy Scout leader, a manager for Little League, Babe Ruth. He loved football and played with Washington Redskins. He became a Pop Warner coach. A strong swimmer on Lake Michigan. A member of the Civil Defense team where he and his son did recovery missions. Member of the American Legion and the VFW. Members of Mount Olive Lutheran Church
Visitation at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home, 21 Riviera Blvd., Lake Havasu City, Wednesday, from 2-4 p.m.; service immediately following.
