William "Willy" Louis Weigand
(September 5, 1955 - November 16, 2012)
William (Willy) Louis Weigand, 57, passed away at his home on Friday, November 16, 2012 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Willy was born to Dorothy and Fredrick Weigand on September 5, 1955. He was the youngest of five children and grew up in the Chicago area. Willy moved to Flagstaff, Arizona in 1977.
He loved living near the mountains, working on his property, and riding horses in the aspens. Willy worked construction for many years. He then worked for W.L. Gore in building maintenance.
For the past 18 years, Willy worked for the City of Flagstaff where he was a supervisor with the Streets Department working concrete and snow removal. Willy always appreciated the folks who brought baked goods and hot coffee out to his grader during our Flagstaff snowstorms. Willy enjoyed life to its fullest.
He will be missed on our camping excursions, fishing at any lake possible, road trips to the Midwest, singing songs around campfires, playing cards and darts, shopping garage sales, and spending time with loved ones.
Willy was preceded in death by his father Fredrick Weigand and his step-father Carl Hacker.
Willy leaves behind his wife of 24 years, Terry Weigand, son Will Weigand, step-son Jeremy Fisher, mother Dorothy Hacker, siblings Barbara Danielczyk and husband Ken, Dale Weigand and his wife Pam, Susan Pruden and husband Jack, all residing in Illinois, and Margaret Weigand of Surprise, AZ. His absence will also be felt by many nieces and nephews, family, friends, and acquaintances from Arizona to Illinois.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Norvel Owens funeral home on Saturday, December 1, 2012, from 1:00-3:00.
