Arizona Silver Belt, Globe, Arizona Wednesday, November 21, 2012 Louise Stevens-Harney was born on Sept. 22, 1928 in San Carlos, Ariz. to George and Gertrude (Logan) Stevens. She passed away Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012 at Copper Mountain Inn nursing facility in Globe, Ariz. Louise graduated high school from St. John’s Catholic Boarding School in southern Phoenix. After graduating from high school she attended and graduated from nursing college in Lawton, Okla. She returned to San Carlos and worked as a nurse at the San Carlos Indian Health Services until she devoted her life to raising and caring for her children and family. She was an active member of the San Carlos Catholic Mission. She actively participated in her children’s and grandchildren’s education and did volunteer work at St. Charles School. She received much joy and happiness spending time with, and caring for, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Louise enjoyed nature and the outdoors. She also loved spending time going for rides out in the mountains, as she was also raised there in her early years. One of her dreams was to see Mt. Rushmore, which she got to fulfill with her son, Charles, at which she stated, that whenever she was ready to go she would die happy for having fulfilled her dream. Louise Stevens-Harney was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Harney; two sons, Joey and Cecil Harney; and a daughter, Patricia, who was stillborn. She is survived by her son, Charles Harney, Sr., and daughter, Jo Ann P. Thorne; five sisters, Julia Thompson, Madeline S. Polk, Victoria Stevens-Daggett, Daphne Stevens, and Sara Chavez; and three brothers, John Stevens, Ben Stevens, and Carl Stevens, and a step-mom, Sara Stevens. She is also survived by three grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. She is loved and will be missed by family and friends but her memory will live on in the hearts of all those she touched. Wake was held on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012 at Louise Harney’s residence in San Carlos, Ariz. Funeral Services were Monday, Nov. 19, 2012 at Rice School Auditorium. Interment was at San Carlos Cemetery. Assisting the family; Lamont Mortuary of Globe.
