HOLMES, Nell

The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Thursday, November 29, 2012 Nell Freeman Holmes, 76, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Nov. 26, 2012. She was born Dec. 20, 1935, in Evergreen, Ala. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Junior Roland (J.R.) Holmes. She leaves behind her two daughters, Tracy (Matt) Sullivan of Prescott, Ariz., and Stacey (Ken) White of Andalusia, Ala., and six grandchildren, Cameron, Kylie, Cori, Mack, Ross and Houston. She was expecting her first great-grandchild next month. She was a caring person who loved her family dearly. She was known as a "second mom" to many and helped raise many of her nieces and nephews. She ran Holmes Groceries for many years and helped neighbors in her community, and her generosity will be missed. She will be remembered for her strength, her devotion to her grandchildren, and her work ethic. She had been through so many health issues and yet she never gave up. She placed her trust in the Lord and she is with Him now. Her services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at Old Town Cemetery with the Rev. John Finklea, the Rev. Cleveland Brown and Dr. Matt Sullivan officiating. Information provided by survivors.
