Kenneth Ray Hicks passed away on Nov. 10, 2012 in Lake Havasu City. Kenneth was born on April 2, 1942 in Rockford, Tenn. to D.C. and Glayds Hicks. Ken grew up in a suburb of Cincinnati, Ohio where he met his wife, Susan. He worked as commercial refrigeration technician for the family business in Ohio until 1974. Ken moved his family to Lake Havasu City in August, 1974. He worked various jobs including the McCulloch Chainsaw Company and a few air conditioning companies when he arrived in Lake Havasu. In 1989, he and his wife started a new family business serving the community in commercial refrigeration and air conditioning service. Very much a hard worker, Ken worked until late last year.
Ken loved Lake Havasu City. He always dreamed of living in a resort town and thought the lake and desert were beautiful. Lake Havasu afforded him the lifestyle he dreamed of for his family. As much as Ken loved this City, he loved his family even more. His greatest joy was to see his wife, children and grandchildren happy and successful. Always positive no matter how tough life was he was an inspiration to his family and friends. Life held many adventures for Ken and he enjoyed every one of them, he will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Susan of Lake Havasu City; daughter, Shannon (Jon) of Lake Havasu City; sons, Jim (Dawn) of Lake Havasu City, Ben of Lake Havasu City and Charlie of Flagstaff; grandchildren, Zoey and Wyatt Hicks of Lake Havasu City; sister, Jean (Jim) Dunbar of Ronceverte, W.Va. and 35 nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Ken’s life will take place at Shugrue’s Bridgeview Room on Dec. 1, at 11 a.m. till 3 p.m. Please join the family for lunch following the service.
