Lewis and mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully in her home in Mesa Sunday morning December 2, 2012 after a prolonged illness. She has gone home for Christmas to reunite with her loved ones, our Heavenly Father and our Savior Jesus Christ. She was born June 12, 1943 in Logan, Utah and raised in Salt Lake City. Maren was a very happy and courageous person. She was a gifted dancer and graduated from Mesa High and attended BYU. Maren began a 50 year romance and married Wayne J. Lewis in the Mesa, Arizona Temple January 25, 1963. She is survived by her husband. The two of them were inseparable. Maren & Wayne had 12 children: LaNea Merie Lewis Kammerer (Kurt), Wayne Jay Lewis (Darlene), Dr. Kent Talmage Lewis (Robyn ), Ginger Lewis Boyd (Mark), Heidi Bengta Lewis Riboldi (Dr. Pablo), LaLoni Maren Lewis Stott (David), Mollie Jennifer Lewis Remund (Steve), Audrey Verna Lewis Maycock (David), Eddie Edison Lewis, Jenny Lynelle Lewis, AnnieLee Lewis Montgomery (Dee), and Jacob Clyde Michael Leavitt Lewis (Noelle). She is survived by all 12 children, 53 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Each of these individuals have known they had 100% of Maren’s love. She had a special way of making each of her children and grandchildren feel like they were her only child or grandchild. Mom taught her children to work hard and to love the Savior Jesus Christ, to love music, the CLASSIC MOVIES and the arts. Her patriotism of America was part of her very soul. She was the catalyst to see that all four of her sons became Eagle Scouts and served full time missions. She loved everyone and never talked evil of anyone. Mom was a model of Christ-like service and compassion. Family Home Evenings and daily scripture study were a constant at home. Although only 4 feet 10 inches tall (short)she was a giant among women and had a special way of assisting each of the children to love each other. She served in multiple callings in the Church and finished her life as a patriarch’s scribe. She will be sorely missed but never forgotten as we hopefully carry on her beautiful legacy.
