BOWMAN, Jason D.

The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Tuesday, December 04, 2012 Jason D. Bowman, 45, passed away on Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at his home in Prescott Valley, Ariz., surrounded by family. Jason made his journey home to his Lord after a long 12-year battle with brain cancer. Jason was born on March 21, 1967, in Phoenix, Ariz., to Helen Filkins and Richard Bowman. He spent most of his childhood in Prescott, Ariz., and graduated class of 1985 from Prescott High School. Immediately upon graduation, Jason joined the U.S. Marine Corps. He proudly served his country from 1985-1992 as an E-5 sergeant during the Gulf War. Thereafter, Jason took on several leadership roles, landing him the position of logistics project manager for Entex/Intel in Portland, Ore. There he lived for eight years and considered it his home up until his diagnosis in 2000. It was then that he returned to his hometown of Prescott to be closer to family. Jason loved the outdoors, including shooting, hiking and camping. He also enjoyed traveling and spending quality time with his family and friends. He was an avid lifelong reader who radiated an obvious intelligence and demonstrated a powerful intellect, balanced by a fertile and creative imagination, a lightning wit and quick humor. He revered chivalry, honor and decency and comported himself in such a fashion. Jason was noble and courtly, brave and determined. He was both a warrior, and a gentle man, a proud father and devoted husband. He is survived by his wife Jennifer Bowman; daughters Danielle and Sydney Bowman; mother Helen Filkins; sisters Cappriell McQuiston and Renee Sechez; brothers-in-law John McQuiston and Michael Sechez; nieces and nephews Gabrielle Bowman, Heather Bowman and Eden Ramsey; grandniece Selah Chambers, along with many relatives he admired dearly. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Bowman, "Dad" Edward Filkins and nephew Aron Bowman. He was loved by his family and will be greatly and truly missed by his MANY friends.
